The start of something new

Welcome to my official Internet site, dedicated to the creative work I do as Dan Zerba. The goal of this space is to show you my original artworks, share information about upcoming projects and updates, link social media and places where I sale my work, etc. I am also hoping to transform it in time into an online art gallery, documenting my work process and inspirations leading to finished pieces.

In the nearest future I will add e-mail subscription to update you directly about new items for sale and promotions. I hope to include sale of prints too, as for now I focus mainly on creating, then also on connecting to you and curating an online presence to reach you, the people who appreciate my creativity ๐Ÿ™‚

This palette trick helped me make cleaning up after a painting is done way easier! And less acrylic goes down the drain too. Also, the paint stays wet for a longer time. The trick is simply lining an old baking tray with soaked kitchen towel and putting a sheet of baking paper over it, then using that as a palette.

I have been struggling with my desire to become an artist who creates professionally for the longest time. Although I believe that there is an artist in all of us, I was undermining my own creativity. Perhaps because I have been led to believe since early childhood, that my drawings and paintings โ€” despite being praised โ€” cannot possibly lead anywhere. “It is not practical to be a painter, you won’t be able to make a living this way!” And yet, the urge persisted, through pretty practical, scientific education. Up until working on my PhD in science, I thought to myself that I surely will find the time to paint more, as soon as I am done here. But there was never enough time, and the lovely colors of the World seemed duller and duller each month…

Sometimes, things have to get worse to get better. Please, browse the site, follow and subscribe to my social media and let me know what you think about the stuff I do!

Work in progress photo of the Sumatran Tigers painting. Because of its relatively big size and visual impact, that is currently my favorite of my own paintings. The process taught me a lot, and simply looking at it makes me create more.
